About Us
was built in 1912 ...
by Nicholas Michaelis, honoring the ship that brought his father to America in 1847. Originally serving Crofton’s bustling train passengers—and the town’s first building with electric lights—the hotel has worn many names and purposes, from the New Meridian Hotel to a small-town clinic. Restored to its original glory in 1994 by Jerry and Sandra (McDonald) Bogner, the Argo was proudly added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.
Today, under the ownership of Charles (Chuck) and Todd, the Argo continues to welcome guests with timeless charm, modern comfort, and a touch of mystery. Known for its friendly spirits—especially the legendary “Alice”—the Argo remains a cherished landmark and living piece of Crofton’s history.
